Primary School Facilities
In 1997, we entered into our first agreement with the Victorian Department of Education to build, own, operate and transfer an indoor heated swimming pool facility.
This agreement followed:
• An initiative to bring together private enterprise and government resources in a unique manner.
• Extensive research into the need and benefits of learn-to-swim facilities at state primary schools.
Construction of the pool, at Hampton Park’s River Gum Primary School, was completed in June 1998 at a cost of $500,000. The project has been an outstanding success with over 1760 students undertaking water familiarisation and learn-to-swim programs at the facility in its first three years of operation.
With this precedent set, we continue to look for new areas that can sustain this type of community, facility.
